Position: Senior Project Manager, Tryp-Elim (HAT Elimination)
Location: Kinshasa
Funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Tryp-Elim project seeks to support the efforts of the Ministry of Health (MoH) in the elimination of Human African Trypanosomiasis (HAT) in Kwilu and Kwango Provinces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. PATH is member of the Tryp-Elim consortium with the Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM) of Antwerp, and the Program Nationale de Lutte Contre le Trypanosomiasis Humaine Africaine (PNLTHA).
In order to ensure strong coordination with PNLTHA and operational excellence, PATH is seeking an experienced Project Manager to effectively lead and manage the project through various aspects of PATH’s Project Lifecycle.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Direct and manage project work with focus on supporting PNLTHA operations for the scale up of HAT diagnosis and treatment
- Plan and coordinate the procurement, logistics, and distribution with national and provincial
- MoH and other relevant authorities
- Ensure deliverables meet the expected schedule, budget, and quality criteria
- Collaboratively problem-solve and adapt based on knowledge from this and other projects
- Facilitate lessons learned as well as properly archive project data and documents
- Provide timely and detailed communication and coordinate with the ITM on all aspects of the project including training, monitoring, and risk management in support of the PNLTHA
- Interact regularly with PATH headquarters’ Procurement team and other shared services departments to ensure project receives adequate support.
Successful individuals in this role have high standards of integrity and an ability to take a holistic view of the HAT elimination project and seek opportunities that improve a project’s efficiency and outcome. With strong time management skills, they have the ability to handle multiple and conflicting priorities, and work under strict deadlines. They take responsibility for project success and demonstrate selfinitiative to solve problems.
The individual must have a wiliness to travel to Bandundu up [30 %] percent per year with occasional international travel and have legal authorization to work in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This position reports to Deputy Director of the DRC Country Program and is a member of the International Development division.
REQUIRED SKILLS
A Project Manager at PATH is expected to demonstrate capabilities across multiple areas such as:
- Time Management involving planning, estimating, developing, managing, and controlling schedule to complete project in a timely manner
- Costs Management in order to maintain project within the approved budget and partner with PATH’s procurement team when necessary to obtain additional products or services
- Quality Management that satisfies and exceed the project objectives as demonstrated through positive stakeholder feedback
- Human Resource Management to acquire, develop and create an environment that fosters a high performing team
- Communications that ensure the timely and appropriate collection, creation, and distribution of project information; this includes excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Risk Management that identifies, assesses, mitigates and responds to risks and issues in a timely and appropriate manner
- Stakeholder Management to identify the people and organizations needed to ensure project success, effectively engage, and build relationships as part of the project execution
- Expert computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Demonstrated experience using project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Gantt charts, or other planning and tracking tools
- Strong attention to detail, sound technical and analytical skills.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Four-year degree (bachelor’s degree or global equivalent)
- At least 5 years of relevant job experience working with ministry or other political officials, or a variety of stakeholders, both domestic and international
- Fluent in the French language with strong written and spoken English skills
- Demonstrated success planning and coordinating activities to support a public health or development intervention goal
Applicants considered for this position are to be DRC nationals. This position is based in Kinshasa, Candidates outside of Kinshasa, will be responsible for their relocation to Kinshasa.
