AVIS DE RECRUTEMENT

Who we are?

Created and registered in the US in 2004 and in DRC in 2005, UFAR (United Front Against Riverblindness) is a nonprofit organization with a primary objective of contributing to the improvement of health and well-being of the poor and helpless people living in regions of the DRC ravaged by neglected tropical diseases.

Since 2006, UFAR has been working in partnership and close collaboration with the DRC Ministry of Health, the African Program for Onchocerciasis Control (APOC), other humanitarian organizations and community leaders as well as community volunteers towards control and elimination of onchocerciasis initially, and more recently against selected neglected tropical diseases through the use of preventive chemotherapeutic agents.  The initial efforts were focused primarily in the Maniema Province where now about 10 years later well over one million people have benefited from the one yearly free dose of Mectizan.

With the closure of APOC  at the end of 2015 and the paradigm shift from control to elimination of onchocerciasis as well as the expansion in scope of targeted diseases and implementation of new strategies to fight against them, UFAR with years of field experience and a reputation of good exemplary work   was in an excellentposition to attract other organizations interested in supporting the implementation of DRC Ministry of Health’s Master Plan for elimination of NTDs in establishing new partnerships and strong collaborations.

This is how the UFAR/Sightsavers alliance came to be to provide support to the MSP for the Ituri-Nord and Lubutu projects since 2011, and the Katanga-Sud project since 2013. The partnership agreement between UFAR and Schistosomiasis Control Initiative (SCI) followed in 2014 for UFAR to act as the judiciary agent for the support of the Kongo Central (Bas-Congo), Katanga-Nord, Lualaba, Kasai and Sankuru projects.

With funding from End Fund, UFAR currently covers 40 health zones with interventions targeting all tropical diseases in 4 provinces, including Sankuru, Maniema, Kongo Central and Lualaba.

Our vision is to contribute to ending the NTDs into the poorest areas of DRC, and contribution to the enhancement of the wellbeing all of the beneficiaries ofour healthcare interventions.
